Marielena Martinez, known as “Mari”, is the president and founder of The Hotspot Dance and Production Company, as well as Hotspot Entertainment. Mari was born and raised in Miami, and discovered her passion for dance at a young age. As the oldest of five siblings, it was difficult for Mari to train as a teenager. Nonetheless, she managed to find a creative outlet. With no professional experience, she choreographed her first quinceanera at just eighteen years of age.


After this experience fired her desire to dance, Mari chose to start training and working at local dance studios such as, Lorraine Florida Dance Academy, Dance Gallery and New Image Dance Studio.
While competing and working for dance studios, Mari was also involved with the Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus Dance Team. Two years later she got accepted into the Florida International University’s dance program, where she acquired an AA and BA in education.
After training in ballet, jazz, hip hop and contemporary for 6 years, she received training in ballroom and salsa where she found her greatest passion. Finding salsa led her to become the woman she is today.

She teaches salsa workshops throughout the world with her dance company members and plays a pivotal role in the Miami nightlife community as a promoter and businesswoman. Today, she directs her own Dance Company and manages and directs her Entertainment Company.

Mari has not only worked with multiple studios throughout her life, but has also worked with numerous artists, such as Wisin y Yandel and Los Primeros, for different music videos, award shows and more.

She has also choreographed for major dance teams such as the Miami Heat Dance Team, Marlins Energy Team, and UM Sensations Dance Team. She has managed various competitive dance teams and salsa teams.

Hires talent in all areas of the arts and is the artistic director for Miami Salsa Congress and the Bachateando Dance Festival. She runs a successful summer camp program yearly and began a high school event entitled “The battle of the salsa clubs” an event that helps teenagers be a part of the latin community through their local schools. She has also started her own youth event the Hotspot Gala which is an event that will become global with the program she created in Miami – The Kids Experience.

She continues to inspire others with her drive for success. She has used her passion for dance as a tool to help others enjoy their hobby, as well as to help dancers achieve new levels in dance. Overall, she believes she is meant to motivate and guide dancers, as well as other teachers and directors.
